On to Arizona

After 19 years in Jacksonville sports, including 14 seasons as a Jacksonville Jaguars senior reporter, I have accepted an offer to become the new radio play-by-play announcer of the Arizona Cardinals.

It’s a career goal that has come true - thanks to the Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill and the entire organization for entrusting me to follow one of the most talented announcers in our game in Dave Pasch. I’m excited to work with analyst A.Q. Shipley, sideline reporter Dani Sureck and our director of radio Jim Omohundro to build the best radio broadcast in the NFL.

My most sincere appreciation goes out to the Jacksonville Jaguars for 14 amazing years. There are so many people that have had an impact on my development here: Shad, Ann, Tony and Shanna Khan and all their organizations are high class in every way, and they take care of their employees at every level. Many thanks to Mark Lamping, Chad Johnson, Patrick Kavanagh, Joe Fortunato, Jeff Lageman, Tony Boselli, Frank Frangie and so many others on our production team at jaguars.com and Jaguars Radio. The behind-the-scenes producers, shooters and editors are among the best in the entire league, and they are the secret to our success.

My thanks to all the coaching staffs over the years, the medical and athletic training staffs, our facilities management people including the groundskeepers – and of course some of my best friends in the world in the Jags equipment room. I’ll be pulling for the Jaguars to win a Super Bowl – until they play the Cardinals…

And for every Jags fan who stopped to grab a selfie, talked ball over a cold beer or said hello (or yelled) to me walking down the street: I enjoyed every interaction we had, and I hope you did too. Always keep that edge that makes Duval special.

Thanks also go out to the folks at Westwood One Sports, Cumulus Media and Touchdown Radio for providing outlets to continue to grow as a play-by-play broadcaster.

On to the Valley of the Sun and Phoenix, Arizona, and a new life with the Bird Gang!

It’s a dry heat, right???

Warmest regards,

J.P. Shadrick
